Bye bye, June
June was a crazy month because I suddenly felt like posting quite frequently on the Portuguese version of my blog, which isn’t usual for me. I usually post once or twice a week, but this month I managed to put out a streak of 14 posts.
At work, a lot of great things happened—we’re making progress on several projects and getting our department organized. Everything is coming together nicely.
As for my reading, though, it wasn’t so great—I read only one book, and I’m wrapping up the month by starting “The Years” by Annie Ernaux (every time I write this author’s name, I have to Google it to make sure I’m spelling it right).
My wife and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary; we ordered Japanese food for delivery and opened a bottle of wine from Chile’s Central Valley to celebrate. It was that simple. Next year, for our 12th anniversary, the plan is to take a trip to Salvador, in the state of Bahia, or some historic city in Minas Gerais. I’m still deciding, but we’ve already started saving up.
They say red wine doesn’t pair well with Japanese food at all—according to experts, white or rosé wine is ideal—but we really enjoy eating sushi with a good Merlot.
As for my Spotify Your Sound Capsule, here’s how it turned out:
This month I listened to a lot of Radiohead, especially the album In Rainbows.. It was a mix of Brazilian music, alternative rock, and American pop.
Since it was a pretty cold month here in the region where I live, I ate a lot. We made a variety of soups, as well as cakes and sweets. Winter begins in June here in Brazil, and in the southern region, temperatures can drop below 10 degrees Celsius.
Now it’s time to take a deep breath, be grateful for what June brought, and stay focused on making these next six months a time of growth, activity, and lots of learning.
Bring on the second half of the year.
